The book is an undergraduate textbook on abstract algebra, beginning with the theories of rings and groups. So far, my list looks something like this: (I chose many books from Howers's great thread on pure math textbooks, but changed some of the higher level math textbooks). I did not see specific coverage of scientific notation, and the text seemed weak in applications, particularly for lower level topics, like linear and quadratic functions, which are quite important for a college algebra class. Such Examples and exercises primarily use imperial units; I would prefer to have a better balance of imperial and metric questions.

This book is intended for the first course in linear algebra, the level is not rigorous, but its pedagogical approach makes it perfect to introduce this subject. You can easily break up some sections to different modules during the course. Bonus: I believe Linear Algebra Done Right is Springer's best seller across all the mathematics textbooks that it sells (saw this in an old excel sheet shared by springer with a publisher). This particular calculator may not be in use in the near future, while other less-costly options may be utilized. The extensive coverage of Systems of Equations and Matrices can not be really squeezed into a one semester College Algebra class, but a 1st Linear Algebra class could definitely take that chapter and spend almost a month on it.
